What to see at the museum
The Nevada Museum of Art’s permanent collection is divided into four thematic areas, giving you several ways to approach the art on view.
The Robert S. and Dorothy J. Keyser Art of the Greater West Collection focuses on the region. The Carol Franc Buck Altered Landscape Photography Collection takes landscape photography as its subject, while the Modern and Contemporary Art Collection brings together work from those periods.
The E. L. Wiegand Work Ethic in American Art Collection explores work and labor in American art.
The museum was founded in 1931. Its present building, designed by Will Bruder, opened in 2003 and has four levels across 120,000 square feet. If you want to add another museum stop in downtown Reno, the National Automobile Museum Reno has a different subject focus.
